Dairy products come in different consistencies: liquid, solid, semi-solid, creamy, spreadable, they can be opaque or translucent and their colors vary depending on their condition, shelf life and the light conditions under which they are viewed.
This makes reliable color measurement with spectrophotometers all the more important.
Depending on the nature of the product, a measuring device for quality control must be equipped with different features. Sample holders for large and small quantities help to reliably reproduce the color values of different products such as yoghurt, quark, cream, cheese, butter and milk/mixed milk drinks.

Application example:
Whether cow's milk or the increasingly popular types of milk made from nuts and cereals, a consistent colour stands for quality and freshness. The task Liquid dairy products (milk, cream, etc.) must be filled into a suitable container for colour measurement. However, a simple reflection measurement would be falsified for these translucent foods, as the ambient light and the fill level in the cuvette have an influence on the measured colour. The solution HunterLab recommends colour measurement in a special 64 mm glass cuvette, together with the ring and disc set on the ColorFlex EZ spectrophotometer.
