Whether cow’s milk or the increasingly popular types of milk made from nuts and cereals, a consistent colour stands for quality and freshness.
The task
Liquid dairy products (milk, cream, etc.) must be filled into a suitable container for colour measurement. However, a simple reflection measurement would be falsified for these translucent foods, as the ambient light and the fill level in the cuvette have an influence on the measured colour.
The solution
HunterLab recommends colour measurement in a special 64 mm glass cuvette, together with the ring and disc set on the ColorFlex EZ spectrophotometer. The ring ensures an identical coating thickness for all measurements, while the white stamp (disc) excludes ambient light and at the same time provides a standardized background.
The measurement is very simple:
- Place the ring in the glass cuvette
- Fill the product to just above the ring
- Place the stamp and press down to the ring
- Place the cuvette on the aperture
- Trigger measurement at the touch of a button
- Read off values

- Ring & Disc Set
